Portfolio Manager is a relatively new discipline; but it is the centralized organization of processes, methods, and tools to analyze and collectively execute current or proposed projects and programs; Team Exec refers to A+ Portfolio Manager Model as "Central Command" in order to meet the business strategic objectives.
Portfolio Manager roles and responsibilities involves setting priorities based on the business strategic goals executed by PMO Governance for the Chief Information Officer, and then choosing programs and projects to undertake based on what will provide optimal business value for shareholders. Therefore, it is imperative that tactical execution of projects and programs are on time and within budget to meet corporate revenue projections without unnecessarily exhausting working capital funds.
Basically, the Portfolio Manager is the bridge between the Project Manager, Program Manager, and PMO Governance for projects in flight performance (i.e. tactical execution).
Our "Analytics Plus Portfolio Manager (A+ Port Mgr Model)" automatically performs the above mentioned tasks by consolidating all activities for projects and programs that are in flight at the current time plus ramp up and ramp down for resources based on Demand Management.
The main function of the "A+ Port Mgr" is to consolidate Business Unit Projects under Sub-Portfolio's / Portfolio's for tactical execution (i.e. forecast and earned value management) performance metrics while mentoring and coaching for Quality Improvement Productivity (QIP) via End to End (E2E) Business Unit business process re-engineering.
